What we do

We understand that Ship Owners/Managers, Charterers and Cargo Interests are concerned in operating from various locations across the world and are constantly trying to find marine service providers who provide quality services at reasonable costs. With the aim to fulfill client requirements we offer a host of marine services in the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. Our services can be broadly classified into the following:-

Marine Surveys

  • Pre-Shipment Inspection Survey:

It includes pre-shipment visual inspection & verification of goods ( break-bulk or bulk) on behalf of Cargo Interests (shippers/consignees/insurers,etc.) to insure that the goods are not in damaged condition and they conform to contractual specifications & to the international export regulations and requirements. It can be carried out at any reasonable site such as shipper’s yard/ warehouse or wharf.

  • On hire/Off hire Bunker and Condition Surveys:

It is very important to determine the amount of bunkers on board & ascertain the Condition of the vessel prior commencement or on completion of a Charter in order to avoid any kind of dispute between the Owners & the Charterers at any point of time during the period of charter. The cargo holds and other structures of the vessel are inspected for current condition & the damages that are pre-existing at time of charter.

  • Bunker Surveys (Investigative):

As bunker surveyors we investigate & ascertain the actual quantity of bunkers at any point of time during the charter or prior commencement or after completion of a charter. We provide impartial & independent quantity measurement inspection services.

  • Hold Inspection & Cleaning Supervision:

It is utmost important to determine that the ship’s holds are in readiness in all respects prior receiving the cargo. We put every effort to make sure the holds get passed in the first place only.

  • Petroleum Cargo Discharge Survey:

We carry out Inspection of ship’s tanks prior discharging in order to determine quantity & to ascertain any shortages. Quality assurance as per Regulatory standards is required at shore tank facilities.

  • Container Stuffing / Un-stuffing Surveys:

Inspection for cargoes being carried in containers, both FCL and LCL are carried out at all stages of transportation, commencing with the shipment of cargoes into containers at shipper’s warehouse and completion with the delivery of cargoes to the consignee.

  • Container Seaworthiness Inspection:

After shipping/loading the cargoes in the containers it is very important to inspect/assess the seaworthiness of that particular container in all respect before loading on the vessel.

  • Ro Ro Cargo:

We monitor/conduct loading/unloading of all types of Ro-Ro cargoes which includes proper stowage and lashings of the cargoes for smooth transportation & loading/unloading.

  • Measurement & Lashing Surveys:

It is of imperative that dimensions and volumes of cargoes on flat rack and open top containers and those of RoRo units are measured accurately in order to avoid and fines from terminals and authorities at load and discharge port. Simultaneously, it is also important that these cargoes be lashed and secured properly to eliminate chances of any shifting. We provide for such surveys and also suggest clients on lashing and securing.

  • Hull & Machinery Surveys:

We conduct inspection of Hull & Machinery to ascertain extent of damage following an incident/accident which includes listing the details of potential hazards & detailed description of the damage, repair options and costs involved. Ship Inspection & Audits

  • Pre-purchase Inspections:

We conduct a thorough inspection of the vessel to provide the buyer with the extensive report of the vessel’s condition to make objective and balanced decisions regarding the condition and operational capabilities of the vessel prior to purchase. Additionally our inspection/survey identifies if other risks needed to be mitigated such as any damages to the hull or engine that could result in a condition of class & examination of records to determine fuel consumption Vs speed and if any major items of maintenance that are due or close to be due. We check if the vessel complies with all International Regulations/Standards before acquiring it.

  • P&I entry surveys

P&I Entry Surveys are conducted prior vessel is entering P&I club or Hull & Machinery underwriters. The Purpose of this survey is to determine if vessel condition is acceptable upon stated requirements. Usually condition survey is done when vessels are over 10 years old or are entered in the club, this can be either a pre-entry or a post entry condition survey.

  • Flag State Inspections:

Flag State Inspections (FSI) are conducted on behalf of flag states to ensure satisfactory standards are being maintained on board vessels flying their flag. This inspection includes verification of statutory documentation and a general examination of the vessel's structure, machinery and equipment as well as a more thorough inspection and/or operational testing of fire fighting equipment, life saving appliances and safety equipment. Inspections normally also include verification of compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, e.g. Flag State Circulars, WHO and ILO conventions.

  • Internal ISM/ISPS/MLC and Navigation Audits:

The ISM Code paragraph 12.1 states: “The Company should carry out internal safety audits on board and ashore at intervals not exceeding 12 months to verify whether safety and pollution-prevention activities comply with the Safety Management System (SMS)”. Section 12.4 of the code also states that “Personnel carrying out audits should be independent of the areas being audited unless this is impracticable due to the size and nature of the company”. We are able to carry out this audit on behalf of the Management Company and provide an independent view as required by ISM Code 12.4. Our fully certified auditor will carry out the audit on behalf of the company and produce a detailed written report in a narrative format listing any relevant points including details of any ‘Findings’(Non-Conformities/Observations).

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) require Shipping Companies to have procedures for conducting both internal and external audits to ensure the ship is doing what is documented in the Ship Security Plan. Our organization offers experienced Internal Auditors available to perform ISPS audits on board ships.

Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 – Major flag States have already stipulated that internal Maritime Labour Inspections shall be carried out annually. This raises the question of how to make sure that those performing audits and inspections are sufficiently qualified. We can offer you internal audits and verifications done by fully certified auditor. It just makes sense to integrate the required MLC inspections into the existing ISM/ISPS auditing system. This is also a good measure to save time and money. Integrated inspections can be performed by our certified auditors on scheduled yearly basis to save client’s time and money.

  • Navigation Audit: We have a team of proficient master mariners who strive to deliver comprehensive navigational audit assuring compliance to regulatory standards, company procedures and industry's best practices. The audit embraces assessment of on board bridge team navigational standards basis the CDI/SIRE VIQ and gap analysis in terms of TMSA standards & provide on board training for enhancing comprehensive navigation practices.

  • Pre-vetting Inspections :

The purpose of these inspections is to successfully complete Cargo Major Inspections. Cargo Majors, or Petroleum Terminals generally conduct inspection of the 3rd party vessels against standards of safe vessel operation developed through inputs of various stakeholders in the industry. Based on the rating of the vessel’s condition, these cargo majors permit the vessel to carry their cargoes or allow them to operate on their terminal. Commercially, it is very critical to have your vessels endorsed by cargo majors in order to increase commercial engagement of the fleet. Vetting Inspections are a snapshot evaluation of your operating procedures, implementation, and condition of the vessel and her equipment. It is crucial to keep your vessels prepared all the time for the vetting to maximize commercial opportunities. We have especially designed ship inspections based on SIRE program and RightShip for Oil & Chemical Tankers or Bulk Carriers to evaluate the preparedness of the vessel for the upcoming vetting inspections. This service usually involves a 2 -days visit to the vessel, preferably during cargo discharging. We provide truly independent advice on potential gaps, risks and how to mitigate them.

  • OVID Inspection

About Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID)
The Offshore Vessel Inspection Database has been developed by OCIMF in response to a request from its members to provide a database of offshore inspections broadly following the format of SIRE. Recognition that the offshore industry has different processes and procedures than the tanker world for assurance and chartering has been taken into account. The aim of OVID is to provide a robust web based inspection tool and database of inspection reports; this will be underpinned with professional, trained and accredited inspectors. In the long term it is an aspiration that OVID will form a database that is central to the selection and assurance of offshore vessels enhancing the safety of operations in the industry.

    Benefits of OVID
OVID has been designed to provide a number of positive benefits to OCIMF / OGP Members and vessel managers. By utilising a database where inspection reports are available to OVID participating members experience has demonstrated that inspection numbers will drop over time. Assurance checks as a part of the chartering process may be speeded up as the assurance personnel have access instantly to credible information on the vessel and its safety performance. OCIMF members have cooperated to develop a common inspection document and format that will eliminate the need for inspectors to conduct inspections using a core document and client specific supplements; this should simplify the inspection process for both inspectors and ships staff and also provide assurance personnel in the oil companies with increased confidence in the inspection report content. The provision of a document detailing vessel/ unit principal dimensions and equipment will give vessel operators the ability to 'show case' its capabilities and provide a tool to project teams to pre-screen vessels that are capable of undertaking the required activities. Having this document controlled by the vessel/unit operator allows for rapid amendment to reflect upgrading activities, and hence allowing project teams to quickly evaluate the vessels new capabilities. Proactive owners of offshore vessels will quickly see the benefit of keeping an active inspection on the database as it will streamline the pre chartering process and, for competent vessel operators reinforce their positive image with the clients.
